Macaron Schmacaron!

‘i beg to differ. the queen bitch of all things pastry are macarons. they are the absolute diva whores of the baking world.’ - Nix (in one of the comment boxes).

I can’t agree with you more Nix! which is WHY you don’t see Macofreakinrons on the menu! I did went for a Macaron-making class earlier this year..and guess what? even the GURU’s macarons came out like those LUCKY lady biscuits. Flat and ‘feetless’ that i couldn’t make out whether it needed volumizing shampoo or a wheel chair.   Not satisfied with the outcome himself, the ‘pastry guru’ ended up making a second batch..which came out ok..but by that time, i was like who gives a s#it.  I want my MONIES back. Maybe u can teach me? i won’t sell them. promise :)

I am yet to find a full proof macaron recipe. If only i knew french. All the books on macarons seem to be in french kan? Maybe ill get a french maid.

Anyway, it was another fruitful weekend. Thank you to those who ordered. Thank you for the endless support , kind words and loyalty.seriously. i heart each and everyone of you.

Ugly Eclairs.

The thing about me is, I can’t seem to make anything pretty which is why i dont bother with marzipan and cupcakes and oh all of the other beautiful sweet treats. I shall leave those to the experts *see link list on left hand side of page*.  I aint no cake-beautician. but what i lack in the beauty department, i compensate in flavour. I REFUSE to compromise my ingredients which is why at times, some of my items might seem ridiculously expensive..but rest-assured you are paying that much for quality. Like today’s batch of chocolate eclairs! I only used quality chocolate all the way! Like i said, none of that choki choki , koko-jelly stuff! The Butterscotch on the other hand, is made from the best brand of brown sugar that i can find out there and the cream has been freshly whipped by yours truly (with love). I may write paragraphs and paragraphs describing the quality of ingredients that i use, but i know i shouldn’t bother.. cause at the end of the day..quality really speaks for itself :)

Anyway, i woke up in a good mood today so i decided to bake eclairs. Eclairs , speaking from experience are tres temperamental morsels. Last week, i had concluded that they are the QUEEN BITCH of all pastries. Which is why, you shouldn’t bake them when you are feeling temperamental. lol. I guess it does make sense kan?  After last week’s Eclair slots i thought of not baking them any more (in my whole entire life.. )not only because they can be temperamental but also because they are  the messiest little things to make. Unlike profiteroles, eclairs have a larger surface area which requires more ganache which makes them soo much more messy. As much as i want them to look perfect, even I have never come accross ONE perfect eclair in my whole life. Less messy maybe. but a perfectly long-shaped eclair.. dipped in ganache to perfection - never! ive heard of them. but have never seen them.. for reals. So this morning, i braved  the kitchen with an open mind and said ’screw you’ to perfection and did what i had to do..

To my surprise this time around, all of the batches came out beautifully puffed up and golden! I felt like i was Dorothy seeing Oz for the first time! lol I was over the moon! Though, i did dread the dipping-it-in-ganache part.. but i managed! haha. So i guess, Unlike the brownies, eclairs won’t be on the menu for good. i’m just going to have to make them and sell them on the days that i feel like im up for a challenge. Hi all! I’m back to baking 2 times a week guys! And here are this week’s slots

As you can see , I’ve introduced a new brownie to the menu. Been getting alot of good feedback for these lovelies. It has the right amount of fudgy-ness, sweetness and chocolatey-ness, making them purrrfect for your  chocolate cravings. Girls i’m sure you know what i’m talking about ;) So get them either this Thursday or Saturday for only $20 a box.

Although if for some (strange)reason, extremefudgydecadence isn’t really your thang feel free to choose whatever you like from the menu above.

I also cater to those who want a little bit more love on their brownies/blondies. Extra toppings of either Hazelnuts, Almonds , Walnuts , Peanuts ,Peanut butter cups or Daim  would cost $1.00 extra!

Walnuts and Fudge Brownies = Brain food.

I find walnuts very intriguing. One thing about it is that it is shaped like a brain and IS apparently good for the brain too.  Secondly, it works as nice in savouries as it does in Baklavas and carrotcakes!   But the thing i love most about them is that it gives a certain texture to brownies. you know, that distinctive ‘crunch’ that is not quite hazelnut or almonds or cashews or pecans or whatever other nuts there is in existence! They do compliment  brownies very well exspecially fudgey ones.  So i’ve decided  to add on these fudgey beauties on to the menu!

Since it has walnuts in them, i guess they also count as BRAIN FOOD? lol. So if you think you’re having a dumb day, why not come and get them? huhuhu  Right now these are priced at $18 for an 8×8 box.  However, after the 15th of November, they will be $20 a box.

Unlike my other brownies these are a bit more special, therefore, you have to place in your order at least a day in advanced:- so say my slots are on Thursday, Wednesday will be the latest for you to order.  But i won’t have you wait until next Wednesday to get your hands on them, luckily for you i have slots going all weekend! I’m nice like that heehe :P

How hot is it today? so hot that i feel like having one of those  iced chocolate things that  you suck through an organic straw. lol. (Kamy!)  How good would that be? no idea where to get the best ice chocolate in the ice chocolate planet here. Dome used to have real good ones..and then they closed down :(  i’ll just vicariously live through these photos i took in melbourne for now.. huhu.

Seriously, everything’s gone organic these days! even drinking straws! though i have  to say, they’re abit hard to use. you only have 3 minutes to drink the whole thing through the straw otherwise you risk the straw deteriorating to nothingness. I didnt even get 3 minutes. hahaha ONE minute of putting it in to the glass of ice chocolate and the straw was already melting..like toilet paper to water. how inconvenient!

huhu anyway,Before i left for Melbourne, I had a pleasure of doing party favors for a little boy’s birthday party.  It was for Muhd Waie Aiman. I had lots of fun doing it..and hope the birthday boy and family enjoyed them too :)

Hi guys! switched on my brunei phone and were bombarded with tons of orders for last week. I’m sorry i didn’t reply to any of you beautiful people punya text as i was overseas and i didn’t want to stack up on my dst bills.I apologize for my CHEAPness. those who texted last week are entitled to a free box of brownie upon ordering for this week’s slots. Will send out the text some time today!  I was in Melbourne, sorting out some stuff (my life more like) and i am now back and im ready for some hardcore chocolatey,fudgey,delicious brownie action.
